Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Physical Therapy - Department of Physical Therapy for Cardiopulmonary and Geriatrics Disorders Summary: Background: Chronic constipation is a major health problem affecting the patient quality of life, Interferential therapy and aerobic exercise are a new quantum leaps that used recently to minimize constipation symptoms. Purpose:To determine the effect of interferential therapy versus aerobic exercise training on chronic constipation patients using constipation scoring system with the following criteria.(Frequency of bowel movement, Difficulty:Painful evacuation effort, Completeness, Abdominal tummy Pain, Time, Assistance :type of assistance, Failure, Duration of constipation(yr)).Subject and Methods: Thirty chronic constipation patients were participated in this study (16 females and 14 males), their age ranged from 20 to 30 years. They were divided randomly into two groups. Group A received interferential therapy and group B receive aerobic exercise training, three sessions per week for four weeks. Results: Statistically there was a significant improvement in all constipation scoring system in both groups except in attempt for evacuation per 24 hours. But there was no significant statistical difference between the effect of interferential therapy and aerobic exercise training on chronic constipation patients
