Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Physical Therapy - Department of Physical Therapy for Gynecology and Obstetrics Summary: Aim: This study was conducted to detect the effect of aerobic exercise versus Mediterranean diet on postmenopausal metabolic syndrome. Subjects: Forty postmenopausal women with metabolic syndrome (Mets) were divided randomly into two equal groups. Group (A) received medical treatment in addition to aerobic exercise for 8 weeks, while group (B) received the same medical treatment in addition to Mediterranean diet for 8 weeks. Methods: Women were assessed pre and post treatment through measuring body mass (BM), body mass index (BMI), waist hip ratio (WHR), systolic blood pressure (SBP), diastolic blood pressure (DBP), triglyceride (TG), high density lipoprotein (HDL) and fasting blood glucose. Results: Both groups (A & B) showed significant reductions in BM, BMI, WHR, SBP, DBP, TG, and fasting blood glucose (p<0.05), as well as a significant increase in HDL (p<0.05) post treatment compared with pre-treatment. Comparing both groups post-treatment revealed that there was a significant reduction in SBP (p<0.05) in favor of group (B). However, there were non-significant differences regarding BM, BMI, WHR, DBP, TG, HDL and fasting blood glucose between both groups post-treatment (p>0.05
