Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Pharmacy - Department of Analytical Chemistry Summary: This thesis is concerned with the analysis of some drugs used in treating blood coagulation disorders such as hemorrhage and hemophilia, these drugs are ethamsylate (ETM) and tranexamic acid (TA).The aim of the present work was the development of methods for the quantitative determination of the mentioned drugs in presence of other components.Ethamsylate was determined in the presence of its degradation product and main impurity hydroquinone (HQ), and also in presence of the tranexamic acid, which is commonly used as the co-formulated drug. Ethamsylate was determined by four derivative spectrophotometric methods, which are, second derivative, derivative ratio, ratio difference and dual wavelength spectrophotometric methods. Potentiometric methods were used, fabrication of four ion selective electrodes was done.Tranexamic acid determination was done by gas chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry (GC/MS) after precolumn derivatization through silylation with trimethyl silyl acetamide (BSA) The simultaneous determination of both drugs was done by liquid chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry (UPLC/MS/MS), in their pure form, and their combined dosage form. The methods were developed for the analysis of the mentioned drugs in pure forms and in their pharmaceutical preparations, both, single and combined pharmaceutical dosage forms
