Dissertation note: Thesis (Ph.D.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Physical Therapy - Department of Basic Sciences Summary: Background: In cervical spondylosis, degenerative changes start in the intervertebral discs with osteophyte formation and involvement of adjacent soft tissue structures that can lead to neck pain, stiffnessand neurological complications that eventually impact neck functional abilities. Purpose: To investigate the effect of cervical stability exercises on pain, range of motion and neck functional ability in patients with chronic cervical spondylosis. Methods: A randomized controlled trial study was conducted. forty patients of both genders with age ranged from 40-65 yearswith cervical spondylosis were recruited from outpatient clinic of the faculty of physical therapy, Badr University from October 2019 to March 2020 and randomly assigned into two groups; control group (A), received traditional treatment of cervical spondylosis, and experimental group (B), received the traditional treatment plus CSE.Pre- and post-treatment assessment using Visual Analogue Scale, cervical ROM and neck disability index were done for all patients. Results: Using paired T-test showed statistically significant difference (P<0.05) between pre- and post-treatment for group (A) and (B), ROM (flexion 6.1% and 25 %, extension 12.1% and 25.2%, right lateral flexion 16.2% and 44.9%, left lateral flexion 15.1% and 45.3%, right rotation 9.9% and 28%, left rotation 10% and 27.6%) and NDI (11.1% and 31.3%) respectively.The unpaired T-test revealed that there were statistical significant difference between group (A) and (B) in post-treatment measurements of VAS, ROM and NDI (P<0.05)
