Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine - Department of Periodontology Summary: Aim: To assess the gingival margin stability following conventional versus microsurgical approach of esthetic crown lengthening in management of patients with anterior short clinical crowns.Methodology : Twenty-four patients were selected and divided into test group (microsurgical) and control group (conventional) esthetic crown lengthening was performed. All patients were assessed with the outcomes: gingival margin (GM), Pink esthetic score (PES), soft tissue level(STL),mesial (MP) and distal papilla (DP), postoperative swelling (POS), pain (POP) and patient satisfaction obtained at different intervals (baseline, 3, and 6 months) and subjected to statistical analysis. Results: Both groups showed no statistically significant difference when compared to each other in GM, PES, STL, MP and DP. The test group showed a statistically significant decrease in POP and POS when compared to control group. Conclusions: Both groups significantly improved in all clinical outcomes after 6 months, and the microsurgical approach showed less postoperative pain and swelling
