Dissertation note: Thesis (Ph.D.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Physical Therapy - Department of Physical Therapy for Cardiopulmonary and Geriatrics Disorder Summary: Purpose of the study: This study was conducted to compare between the effect of extracorporeal shock wave and pulsed electromagnetic field in treatment of diabetic frozen shoulder in elderly. Subjects: Sixty elderly male patients with Diabetic frozen shoulder participated and completed the procedure of the study. They were selected from the physical therapy-outpatient clinic of Ahmed Maher Teaching Hospital; their ages ranged from 65 to 70 years, the mean values of age in group A and group B were 67.33 ±1.78 and 67.40 ±1.56 year, respectively. Methods: All patients were assessed by standard weight and height scale to measure weight and height for assessing BMI, shoulder pain and disability index to assess pain and disability of shoulder joint, pressure algometer to measure pressure pain threshold, and universal goniometer to measure shoulder joint range of motion (abduction, lateral rotation, and medial rotation). The assessment was made before and after treatment.\They assigned into two groups: Group (A): received Extracorporeal shock wave plus exercise program. Group (B): received Pulsed electromagnetic field plus exercise program. All groups were received 2 sessions weekly for one month, for total of 8 sessions. Results: Comparing both groups post treatment revealed statistically significant increase in abduction, external rotation and internal rotation (P=0.0001; P<0.05) within group A and group B,There were statistically significant decreased in pain scale, disability scale, total shoulder pain and disability index, and pressure algometer (P=0.0001; P<0.05) within group A and group B, In favor of group (A)
