Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Engineering - Department of Chemical Engineering Summary: This thesis discuss an actual performance problem in a nitric acid facility by analysing the performance of an ammonia horizontal vaporizer which vaporizes the liquid ammonia feed to the catalytic reactor.Due to the heat integration between the vaporizer and the nitric acid absorption tower, any malufunction in the vaporizer will result in the plant efficiency. Detailed analysis is conducted against the vaporizer data sheet to check the performance of the vaporizer in the de-subcooling zone, vaporizing zone and superheating zone
