Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Commerce - Department of Business Administration Summary: This piece of research aims to explore factors include individual and organizational that affect Chinese small and medium enterprises growth in Egypt. This research adopts interviews and survey as analytical approach for factors identification. It will eventually lead us to find out the factors and how they affect international firm growth.Prior work: Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are generally defined as enterprises whose income, assets, or labors in a country are less than a certain size. Different countries have various definitions of their SMEs based on income, assets, number of employees, and industry (Abdelbary, 2019). Individual and organizational factors were earlier recognized by the academic circle as important factors affecting small and medium-sized enterprises, and their coverage is relatively wide (Baum et al, 2001).The entrepreneurs{u2019}characteristics and firm strategy are studied by most firm performance researchers as the key factors affecting corporate growth. However, each approach or analysis method to identify influencing factors has its disadvantages, which may come from the research method or path itself, or from the unacceptable of conclusions caused by different target research objects.Approach: The data and conclusions in this study are extracted from 121 Chinese small and medium enterprises operating in Egypt. The process of data collection includes interviews and surveys. Results: Results showed that pro-activeness, risk-taking, self-efficacy, investment in R&D and training influence the growth of Chinese small and medium-sized enterprises in Egypt. The research also shows that type of industry the enterprise belongs to has a moderating effect on the above factors to some extent
