Dissertation note: Thesis (Ph.D.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Commerce - Department of Business Administration Summary: Leadership transition is one of the most important phenomena that occur in all organizations.That is why the necessity came to plan to manage this phenomenon. The aim of the study was to search for the existence or absence of a mechanism for executive transition and what actually happened according to the mechanism, and the impact of transition, positive or negative, on financial performance, customers, operations, innovation, and development.That is why balanced scorecard (BSC) was used as a tool to measure the change in the performance of companies after the transition process.Ten companies were chosen in a judgmental way. So that leadership transition occurred in the last ten years and also their annual sales revenue are greater than 300 million Egyptian pounds, so that they are included within the medium-sized companies (according to the classification of the Central Bank of Egypt, 5 march 2017).There are two companies out of the ten companies with strong leadership transition management systems, so they were chosen within the sample as a reference for practical implementation. Semi-structure face to face interviews were conducted within each company with three parties; The current leader, the exiting leader and one of the senior management personnel. The data were collected from the survey forms and analyzed individually for each company, as well as some grouped analyzes were made. Also the data represent the balanced scorecard parameters were collected separately from each company
