Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Engineering - Department of Architectural Engineering Summary: This thesis studies the idea of information technology participation in the tourism industry process. It focuses on designing a new experience for the tourist, producing innovative ideas for the enjoyment of their tours within historical spots that meet their needs and interests. This would replace the present techniques (tour guides, books, brochures, etc.) that are used regardless of the visitors{u2019} needs. The main purpose of the study is to discuss the differences between the users using e-guide mobile apps and the ones that depend on either tour guides or self-reading, and their perception of the visited historical spaces in Medieval Cairo vs. Old Dubai. The data are collected by using a multi-method model for listening to tourists, making surveys and tests for both kinds of users and concludes by suggesting the best ways for touristic tours that can meet tourists{u2019} needs and priorities
