Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - National Cancer Institute - Department of Oncology (Surgical) Summary: Patients: This is a retrospective descriptive analysis involving All patients with sacral tumors who underwent surgical resection at National Cancer Institute (NCI), Cairo University, at the department of surgical oncology over a period of 10 years from January 2010 to December 2019. Methods: criteria of patients with the operative details as type of surgery, surgical approach were analyzed. Early and late postoperative complications and pathology of the cases were investigated. Results: our study included 21 patients, 16 males and 5 females and The Mean age was 47.52 years old ranging from 3 to 82 year. The most common presenting symptoms were low back pain, incontinence and lower limb pain. Surgical resection was done for all patients, 12 patients were through posterior approach and 9 patients through dual anterior and posterior approach We observed that the most common complications post sacral resection is incontinence and wound infection it happened in 8 patients, while blood loss was reported in 4 patients, rectal tear occurred in 3 patients, stroke occurred in 1 patient. For chordoma cases the Median follow up time was 60 months, disease free survival at 3 and 5 years was 59.5 % and 44.6% respectively
