Dissertation note: Thesis (Ph.D.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Pharmacy - Department of Analytical Chemistry Summary: This thesis is concerned with the quantitative determination of some drugs containing carbonyl group either single or combined with other drugs. In this thesis, two single drugs (Diazepam, DZP, and methacholine chloride, MCh) and mefenamic acid (MFN) in its binary mixture with drotaverine hydrochloride (DTV) were studied as representative examples for carbonyl group containing drugs. The aim of this work was to develop different analytical methods which are characterized by simplicity, accuracy and appropriate degree of sensitivity for the analysis of the above-mentioned drugs in their powdered form, and in the presence of dosage-form excipients, degradation products, or potential impurities in different matrices. This thesis contains 6 chapters in addition to summaries in Arabic and English;Chapter I; General introduction and literature review of the studied drugs were described. Chapter II; Microfabricated ion-selective electrode based potentiometric methods were developed for the analysis of DZP in various biological fluids (plasma, urine, saliva and milk) in presence of its metabolite without any prior separation or preparation steps.Chapter III; We have developed a MCh selective potentiometric sensor based on graphene nanoparticles as a transducer for continuous monitoring of MCh enzymatic hydrolysis in blood samples
