Thesis (Ph.D.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Engineering - Department of Architectural Engineering
In this thesis, the researcher is attempting to formulate a socio-ecological action model (SEAM) that explains and monitors socio-ecological correlations between attributes in residential urban open spaces. This is achieved in two phases; the first phase is mainly concerned with adapting thematic analytical method to tackle multiple correlations through literature review, while the second phase is focusing on conducting multiple questionnaires (users\residents and experts) in The East Academy district, New-Cairo, Egypt as a case study. As well as, photographic documentations for thirteen selected open spaces and the designated SEAM{u2019}s attributes. The previously mentioned phases succeeded in: (1) Formulating an action model that is ecologically significant and socially driven to be applied on residential urban open spaces; (2) Identifying how ecological variables and social aspects are related and correlated by applying a quantitative measuring tool; and (3) Shaping matrix of regenerative action strategies as a practical tool to guide an interventional design process based on criteria\criterion that are\is socio-ecologically oriented
