Background: Competence is a set of abilities, values, behaviors, and characteristics that enable members to perform safely, effectively, and legally within their scope of activity at any given time. For health professionals, evaluating clinical competencies is critical since it allows them to follow the acquisition of these skills. objectives of this study: develop a reliable and valid competency questionnaire for Egyptian physiotherapists and use it to evaluate the physiotherapists{u2019} competencies in Egypt. Methods: The Egyptian Physiotherapy Competencies questionnaire (EPTCQ) was developed and tested for its validity and reliability. Across sectional multi-institutional survey which was carried out from August 2019 to October 2020, 574 physiotherapists of both genders were selected through a stratified random sampling technique. The EPTCQ were distributed in both direct contact with the participants and by emailing using online Google form then data were collected from participants' responses, and statistical analysis was conducted. Results: Face and content validity was established by the expert review committee and the reliability of the 51-item EPTCQ was 0.97, showing high internal consistency. Academic degrees and EPTCQ standards have a highly significant difference The results enhance the development of physical therapy academic programs at different levels and consequently the professional competencies. Conclusions: The study was a novel assessment instrument that could be employed in future research also provides baseline data on the level of competence of PTs operating in Egypt. The data from ETPCQ helped the Egyptian PTs to evaluate themselves and improvement of service performance
