Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty Of Veterinary Medicine - Department Of Veterinary Pharmacology Summary: The pharmacokinetics of oxytetracycline (30 mg / kg bwt) in the serum , milk and urine were studied after a single intravenous and intramuscular injection in lactating goatsPre - treatment with antiblood parasites drug (diminazene aceturate) on the kinetic parameters of oxytetracycline were also investigatedMicrobiological technique was used for assaying the tested antibioticIt was found that the blood concentrations revealed a biexponential decline that can be considered as two - compartment model patternThe results showed that the pre - treatment with diminazene aceturate increases the serum concentrations of oxytetracycline at different time intervalsIt was concluded that diminazene aceturate alter the kinetic parameters of oxytetracyclineThe drug showed very high bioavailability (9754 ± 2007 and 9901 ± 1654 In hundered persent) in non - treated and diminazene pre - treated goats respectivelyThe values recorded for creatinine clearance in pre - treated group were significantly higher than those recorded in non - treated ones following either intravenous or intramuscular injections of oxytetracycline long - acting formulationA significant decreament in the activities of AST and ALT was observed in serum samples following intravenous and intramuscular injection of oxytetracycline long - acting formulation in non - treated and diminazene pre - treated goats compared with values recorded before injectionCalcium and phosphorus values were significantly decreased with fluctuated values in both tested groups as compared with pre - injection values following either intravenous or intramuscular injection of oxytetracycline long - acting formulation
