Dissertation note: Thesis (PH.D.) - Cairo University - Faculty Of Medicine - Department Of Ophthalmology Summary: Most case series reported success rates between 67 - 94 In our study , the Ahmed glaucoma valve (AGV) implant was able to decrease the mean preoperative intraocular pressure (IOP) from 368 mmHg to 151 mmHg at 6 months follow up The total success rate achieved was 90 depending on their criteria for success between 17 - 18 mmHg , the AGV implant used in this study achieves an IOP lowering effect slightly the same as that reported by Huang and associates using the same implant in 159 eyes of complicated glaucoma patientsUsing similar criteria of success , they reported a success rate of 87It has been well shown that neovascular glaucoma is associated with a much higher risk of failure rate than other types of glaucomaThe results in terms of the IOP control , in our series were satisfactoryThe majority of post - operative complications were transient and resolved either spontaneously or with simple surgical procedure
