Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty Of Agriculture - Department Of Economic Entomology and Pesticides Summary: The objectives of this study were to evaluate the long - term effects of soil and diet treatments with certain heavy metals (Cu , Pb and Cd) on the development of eggs and nymphs , the reproductive capacity of adults and the viability of two successive generations of the desert locust , Schistocerca gregaria (Froskal) The females were not able to distinguish between heavy metal treated and untreated egg laying media Copper , lead and cadmium were found to affect the hatchability rates , not only of the eggs laid in treated media , but also of the next two generations (F1 and F2)
