N2  - تناقش الرسالة مدى فعالية المنظمات الإقليمية في تسوية النزاعات، وتم دراسة حالة منظمة الآسيان ومدى نجاحها في تسوية النزاعات الموجودة بمنطقة بحر الصين الجنوبي، خاصة مع وجود نزاعات بين أعضاء المنظمة ومع دول خارجية كالصين بسبب الموارد الموجودة بالمنطقة. وتم تقسيم الدراسة إلى ثلاث فصول، كلا منها يناقش فرض لقياس فعالية المنظمة والمؤسس على معايير منهج المؤسسية الجديدة. وتم إثبات صحة فرض ودحض صحة الفرضين الآخرين. وتم التوصل في النهاية إلى أن منظمة الآسيان تواجه تحديات وضغوطات داخلية وخارجية بكونها فاعل أمني محايد، والتي قد تحد من نجاحتها في المدى القريب، إذا لم تستطع إثبات قدرتها على مواجهة تلك التحديات أمام الدول الأعضاء بها وكسب ثقتهم للتحدث بالنيابة عنهم في المؤتمرات والمحافل الدولية. وإنها قادرة على احتواء الصين والوصول إلى حلٍ مرضٍ لجميع الأطراف من أجل تحقيق أمن واستقرار منطقة بحر الصين الجنوبي; 	The thesis discusses the effectiveness of regional organizations in settling disputes, and took ASEAN as case study, to study the extent of its success and effectiveness in settling the existing disputes in the South China Sea region, especially with the existence of conflicts between the members of the organization and with foreign countries such as China, because of the resources in the region. The thesis is divided into three chapters, each of which discusses a hypothesis to measure the effectiveness of the organization based on the criteria of the new institutionalism approach. One hypothesis is approved its validity and the other two were invalid and refuted. Finally, it is concluded that ASEAN faces internal and external challenges and pressures as a neutral security actor, which may limit its success in the near term, if it cannot prove its ability to meet those challenges for its member States and gain the confidence to speak on their behalf at international conferences and forums. It can contain China as well and reach a mutually satisfactory solution for the security and stability of the South China Sea region
