The COVID 19 Pandemic has been a global emergency caused by the outbreak of SARS-CoV2 virus in Wuhan, Hubei, China in November 2019. The disease is characterized by acute respiratory distress among other symptoms produced by immune system disturbance and cytokine storm. Objective: To determine the serum level of soluble IL-2Ra and RANTES in COVID 19 patients and compare with healthy controls as well as detect correlation with disease severity. Methods: A case-control study was conducted on 60 patients with a positive nasopharyngeal swab tested by RealTime PCR for SARS- CoV2 admitted to isolation wards of Kasr Alainy Hospitals and COVID 19 outpatient clinics, and 25 healthy controls to measure serum levels of soluble IL-2Ra and RANTES using Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay. Results: The results revealed no statistically significant difference in serum levels of soluble IL-2Ra and RANTES between patients and healthy controls, neither was there a difference in serum levels of both parameters between severe and non-severe cases of COVID 19.
