<br/><br/> تناولت الدراسة عقوبات الاتحاد الأفريقي وتأثير تلك العقوبات بمختلف أنواعها، وأسباب إخفاقها في واقعها العملي في بعض الحالات، وقد اتخذ الاتحاد الأفريقي أشكالًا متعددة من العقوبات بجملة من الالتزامات والضوابط التي يتعين احترامها، والتي تسري على جميع الدول بدون استثناء، والتي تلحق بالدولة التي أخلت بالالتزامات، وتردعه عن انتهاكاته، وذلك للحد من تدهور أوضاع الدول الأفريقية، وتراوحت تلك العقوبات ما بين تعليق مشاركة الدولة التي تستوجب عليها فرض العقوبات، أو حظر سفر بعض أو كل المسئولين في تلك الدولة، وتجميد الأصول والأموال والاستثمارات الخاصة بهم في الدول والبنوك الخارجية، وصولًا إلى قطع الدول الأعضاء بالمنظمة علاقاتها الدبلوماسية مع تلك الدولة، وذلك لرفض مبدأ الانقلابات والتغيير غير الدستوري للسلطة، وعدم الاعتراف بالحكومات التي تصل إلى السلطة بغير الطرق الدستورية، <br/>ومن مجمل ماورد في الدراسة، وعلى ضوء غاياتها، ومناقشة احكام العقوبات، خلصت الدراسة الى حاجة الاتحاد الأفريقي إلى مراجعة الإطار القانوني والمؤسسي للاستجابة الفعالة، حيث يحتاج الاتحاد الأفريقي إلى وضع الأسس القانونية اللازمة، بالإضافة إلى الآليات المؤسسية ذات الصلة إذا أراد أن تكون تلك العقوبات المستهدفة أكثر فاعلية، ويعتبر اتاحة الموارد للاتحاد الأفريقي من شأنه أن يعزز قدرته على التدخل في الصراعات الأفريقية. <br/>  The study covered the sanctions imposed by the African Union and the impact of these sanctions in various kinds, and the reasons for their failure in practice in some cases. The African Union developed various forms of sanctions with a set of obligations and controls to be respected, which apply to all States without exception, and shall be imposed to the State that has breached the obligations, and shall it from its violations. <br/>These sanctions are to limit the deterioration of the situation of African countries. These sanctions ranged from suspending the participation of the state that is required to impose sanctions, banning the travel of some or all officials in that state, and freezing their assets, funds, and investments in foreign countries and banks, to the extent that the member states of the organization to sever their diplomatic relations with that state, in order to reject the principle of coups d'état and unconstitutional change of power, and not to recognize governments that come  to power without constitutional methods, According to the overall contents of the study, and in light of its objectives and discussion of the sanctions provisions, the study concluded that the African Union needs to review the legal and institutional framework for an effective response. <br/>The African Union needs to establish the necessary legal foundations, in addition to the relevant institutional mechanisms, if it wants these targeted sanctions to be more effective. Making resources available to the African Union would enhance its ability to intervene in African conflicts.<br/>
