<br/><br/> Measuring coastal city sustainability is the main objective of the current work. The proposed index has the ability to measure the progress/regress of a coastal city towards sustainability and help city administrators and decision makers to take the proper decisions at the proper time. The current study includes two main parts; put the sustainability index and implementing it on some African Red Sea coastal cities. Six Red Sea coastal cities were selected as case studies for the current work; Hurghada, Safaga, Qusair and Marsa Alam from Egypt, Port Sudan from Sudan and Massawa from Eritrea. Some of the inputs used for environmental indicators had to be extracted from the spatial outputs of remote sensing and GIS applications.<br/>Results of this work include three parts: remote sensing and GIS outputs, developing CCSI and measuring coastal city sustainability for the selected case studies. <br/>  يعد قياس استدامة المدن الساحلية الهدف الرئيسي للعمل الحالي. يمتلك الفهرس المقترح القدرة على قياس تراجع/تقدم المدينة الساحلية نحو الاستدامة ومساعدة إداري المدينة وصانعي القرار على اتخاذ القرارات المناسبة في الوقت المناسب. تتضمن الدراسة الحالية جزأين رئيسيين ؛ وضع فهرس الاستدامة وتنفيذه على بعض المدن الساحلية الأفريقية المطلة على البحر الأحمر. تم اختيار ست مدن ساحلية على البحر الأحمر كدراسات حالة للعمل الحالي. الغردقة وسفاجا والقصير ومرسى علم من مصر وبورتسودان من السودان ومصوع من اريتريا. تم إستخلاص بعض مدخلات المؤشرات البيئية من المخرجات المكانية لتطبيقات الاستشعار عن بعد ونظام المعلومات الجغرافية.<br/>تشمل نتائج العمل الحالي ثلاثة أجزاء رئيسية هم: مخرجات الاستشعار عن بعد و نظم المعلومات الجغرافية و تطوير فهرس لقياس استدامة المدن الساحلية و مخرجات قياس الاستدامة للمدن الساحلية المختارة للدراسة .<br/>
