<br/><br/> Nowadays, it is widely believed that CBI coupled with some explicit mandate for restraining inflation is an important institutional guarantee to assure price stability. In spite of the policy consensus proposing that CBI as an effective tool to control inflation, the empirical evidence - particularly in developing countries- is inconclusive. Hence, utilizing a novel CBI index, the study re-visits the rather controversial CBI- Inflation nexus using a panel dataset of 80 developing economies over the period from 1980 to 2017. Furthermore, the study aims at analyzing the impact of financial development and the quality of political institutions on the effectiveness of CBI in achieving price stability in developing countries. Using dynamic panel modelling, the study provides evidence that granting central banks independence for the conduction of monetary policy is an effective mechanism for attaining lower inflation in developing countries despite relatively low quality of political institutions.   على مدى العقود الماضية، كانت وتيرة إصلاحات البنوك المركزية فيما يتعلق بالاستقلال المؤسسي متسارعة بعد أن تم تقديم استقلالية البنك المركزي كضمان مؤسسي للسيطرة على معدل التضخم. على الرغم من إجماع الآراء من الناحية النظرية على أن استقلالية البنك المركزي تمثل أداة مؤسسية فعالة لكبح جماح التضخم، إلا أن نتائج الدراسات التجريبية فيما يتعلق بفعالية البنك المركزي لخفض التضخم – خاصة في الدول النامية – لا تزال غير حاسمة. ومن ثم، تستخدم هذه الدراسة مؤشر حديث لاستقلالية البنك المركزي، لدراسة العلاقة بين التضخم و استقلالية البنك المركزي في الدول النامية و ذلك خلال الفترة من 1980 و حتى 2017. علاوة على ذلك،  تهدف الدراسة إلى تحليل تأثير التنمية المالية و جودة المؤسسات السياسية على مدى فعالية استقلالية البنوك المركزية في تحقيق استقرار الأسعار في الدول النامية.  وقد خلصت الدراسة إلى أن استقلالية البنك المركزي تعد آلية فعالة لخفض التضخم و استقرار الأسعار في البلدان النامية  على الرغم من الجودة المنخفضة نسبياً للمؤسسات السياسية.
