Roman comedy is the ancestor of early English comedy. The transmission of the roman patterns , plots and characters is due to the roman comic poet , plautus whose comic pieces are remarkable for their exuberance and love of fun. His plays bear so close a family resemblance in their exploration of funny tricks and love adventures and also in their presentation of number of stereotyped figures
