The duplex stainless steels are iron based alloys that possess a two phase microstructure, austenite and ferrite with varied phase percentage. They have an excellent mechanical properties and high corrosion resistance. The majority of stainless steels contain nickel (Ni), which is added for a number of reasons but particularly to changes the microstructure from ferrite to austenite
