TY - GEN AU - Doaa Ezzat Said Ahmed AU - Amr Saad Elsaid , AU - Hosam Kamel , AU - Mahmoud Ahmed Mansour , TI - Study of some biochemical parameters in lymphoid and myeloid leukemia / PY - 2006/// CY - Cairo : PB - Doaa Ezzat Said Ahmed , KW - Lipid peroxides KW - Oxidative stress KW - Reduced glutathione N1 - Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Science - Department Of Biochemistry; Issued also as CD N2 - This work has been carried out to investigate the lipid peroxidation and the status of antioxidants in patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) , chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) , acute lymphoid leukemia (ALL) , chronic lymphoid leukemia (CLL) Reduced glutathione (GSH) , lipid peroxidation product such as malondialdhyde (MDA) , glutathione peroxidase (GSH - Px) , glutathione - S - transferase (GST) , catalase (CAT) , total lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) and ferritin were determined in 59 patients with lymphoid leukemia (ALL , CLL) and myeloid leukemia (AML , CML) and 15 healthy controls Reduced glutathione concentration was significantly lower in all types of leukemia Moreover , serum CAT and GSH - PX activities were significantly inhibited in myeloid leukemia (AML , CML) and CLL respectively In contrast GST and LDH activities were higher in myeloid leukemia (AML , CML) Serum MDA and ferritin level were significantly elevated in all types of leukemia as compared to control groups There were no differences for parameters cited above between treated and untreated groups of different types of leukemias , suggesting a predominant oxidative stress status which may lead to enhanced action of oxygen radicals , resulting in lipid peroxidation UR - http://172.23.153.220/th.pdf ER -
