The size and location of the physeal arrest determine the kind of deformity that eventually develops . Complete damage of the physis leads to complete cessation of its growth and shortening of the limb on injured side . While localized damage leads to partial growth arrest if the damage is central in the physis it leads to central tether of growth with tenting of the physis cupping of metaphysis and shortening of the limb
