It is also useful in subarachnoid hemorrhage stroke intracerebral hematoma meningitis encephalopathies hepatic failure after neurosurgery and in patients undergoing carotid artery surgery . The goals of cerebral monitoring are to detect changes in cerebral hemodynamics cerebral oxygenation intracranial pressure cerebral metabolism and neuronal function
