<br/><br/> Ion exchange resins have been used as drug carriers in pharmaceutical dosage forms for taste masking and controlling release . Drugs can be loaded into an ion exchange resin by an exchanging reaction and hence drug - resin complex is formed . Drug is released from the resinate by exchanging with ions in the gastro - intestinal fluid followed by drug diffusion
