N2  - The study in this thesis included preparation of liquorice extract applying spray drying technique and evaluation of it's physical properties identification of Ý -- sitosterol and determination of glycyrrhizin content . In addition stability study was done . The spray dried liquorice extract (SDLE) was used for preparation of 10 gel formulae and 10 emulgel formulae in concentration 4 (%w/w)  using different gelling agents eg. sodium carboxymethylcellulose hydroxypropyl methylcellulose carbopol 940 in different concentrations
