Sludge processing liquors resulting from sludge concentration or treatment usually contain high concentrations of dissolved solids, nutrients, and organic matters of high oxygen demand, and hence their reintroduction into the main wastewater treatment stream will impose high, and often shock loads on the treatment units. However, plant designers seldom consider these liquors in the design of treatment plants, and managing sidestreams are left almost entirely with the plant operators
