<br/><br/> It is well known that a considerable portion of the world population is being supplied with hard water, which has different negative domestic, industrial and agricultural effects . Scaling in pipes leads to an increased pressure drop and often to complete blockage . In heat exchangers it reduces the heat transfer ; it may also lead to unstable operation which could result in unscheduled shutdown and loss of revenue
