We studied 27 aplastic anemia patients , 18 patients completed cytogenetic analysis aiming at detection of numerical chromosomal abnormalities in chromosomes 7 and 8 Monosomy 7 was detected in 4 patients (222percent) and monosomy 8 was detected in one patient (55percent) and there was no significant correlation between the presence of the cytogenetic abnormalities and age , sex , type of anemia , severity , type and duration of treatment or outcome
