It is the first time in the world that Polyhydroxyalkanoate synthase gene was isolated from Hanseniaspora sp. (wild type yeast) . It can synthesize cytoplasmic granules known as polyhdroxyalkanoates (PHA) , which are carbon and energy storage resrves , synthesized from organic carbon when the yeast subject to stressful environmental conditions
