N2  - Background : Birthweight is a strong predictor of both neonatal mortality and morbidity and it reflects fetal growth rates in the antenatal period . Leptin is an emerging important hormone and its function is to control energy homestasis and body weight . Many studies have found relationship between leptin and birthweight .
