Localized sueface plasmon (LSP) is an oscillation of free electrons in a metallic particle , whose resonance frequency , or plasma frequency , is controlled by the size and shape of the particle . LSP could be observed in clusters and aggregates of nanoparticles . Both linear and nonlinear optical responses of molecules and atoms are enormously enhanced due to the local field generated around these particles
