<br/><br/> The problems of the minimum cost design of reinforced concrete beams and columns are formulated as mathematical programming problems using the (MATLAB) program . The columns considered in this are rectangular tied short columns with symmetrical reinforcement . The beams considered have only one critical section in bending and one critical section in shear (i.e. simply supported beams and simply cantilevers)
