There is currently a huge amount of data being collected about movement of objects whether using global position system (GPS) devices, Barcode readers, Radio frequency identification (RFID), cellular phone networks, or even machine generated data. Such data is called spatiotemporal data and paths left by moving - objects are called trajectories.
