Epiphyseal injuries of the distal radius are common in children and they account for 75% to 84% of pediatric forearm fractures . Fortunately most epiphyseal - plate injuries are not associated with any disturbance of growth . After separation of an epiphyseal through its epiphyseal plant there may be a slight and transient acceleration of growth in which case no sigificant deformity ensues
