Diabetes mellitus (DM) describes a metabolic disorder of multiple etiologies, characterized by chronic hyperglycaemic events, resulting from defects in insulin secretion, insulin action, or both. Unfortunately, patients with DM have a threefold greater chance of hospitalization compared to those without DM. Hyperglycemia in hospitalized patients is associated with poor clinical outcomes. Although scheduled subcutaneous Insulin therapy (SCI) has been recommended for better glycemic control, sliding scale Insulin (SSI) regimens continue to be used by many physicians in Egypt, which often results in undesirable outcomes
