<br/><br/> This study aims to compare some aspects of the efficiency and effectiveness of the irrigation process under the two conditions of the improved and unimproved irrigation systems. The study was conducted in Behera governorate where the IIPs have been applied. Three branch canals from the area covered by IIPs and a branch canal located in the areas not covered by IIPs were selected to represent the current situation of irrigation systems in both areas. A sample of 186 irrigation WUs was selected (125 from improved mesqas and 61 from unimproved ones) taking into consideration their location on each mesqa (Upstream/Midstream/Downstream)
