This thesis gives an overview on L1 adaptive control theory. It is powerful controlling tool for the systems contain large uncertainties. We develop a discrete proportional L1 adaptive controller version, which is more compatible for computerized systems. We apply this controller on a simple real servo motor. The servo system has unstructured uncertainties as we ignore the electric time constant in addition the nonlinearities of the overall servo system. Also we test the continuous controller in regulating a 5MW wind turbine speed at region 3. The generated power mean value reached to 98.8% and it shows improvement in power quality
