This study was designed to discuss the use of deltopectoral flap for reconstruction after head and neck surgery, its surgical adaptation, modifications, types and our experience in its use in head and neck cancer patients. Our study included 30 patients with head and neck malignancy treated at the N.C.I ( National Cancer Institute ) of the Cairo University from 2005 - 2009. DPF flaps were used, either in the standard type, the L - extended type or using the Island variety of DPF. Different flap adaptations have been used to suit the varied requirements of repair in each patient. We assessed the combination of DPF with other loco - regional flaps. The donor site was either immediately covered by split thickness skin or left bare for later management. For monitoring of the DPF we depended upon the clinical evaluation over 2 weeks post - operatively. We finally assessed the success of this flap according to 4 categories: primary, secondary success, repair not evaluated and failure
