Injury to the acromioclavicular (AC) joint accounts for nearly half of all sports - related shoulder injuries. Dislocation of the acromio - clavicular joint commonly occurs in young adults following a fall with direct impact onto the shoulder. This produces a sprain followed by rupture of the acromio - clavicular ligaments with loss of horizontal stability. With increasing force, rupture of the coraco - clavicular ligaments with displacement of the lateral clavicle occurs with loss of vertical stability, producing a complete dislocation UR - http://172.23.153.220/th.pdf ER -
