This thesis is mainly concerned with the role of regulatory agencies in enforcing corporate governance, eventually affecting the financial performance of firms. Corporate governance good practices are recognized worldwide to being an undeniable factor affecting the financial performance of firms. Among its various benefits are attracting foreign investments, lowering the cost of capital, increasing investors confidence, and ultimately affecting the growth and economic development of countries. This research attempts to assess the effectiveness of the role of regulatory agencies in the enforcement of corporate governance rules by Egyptian companies. This is achieved by investigating the corporate governance practices of listed companies on the Egyptian Stock Exchange and relating their practices to their financial performance
