Analytical and numerical studies have been performed to investigate the accuracy of different advanced pushover techniques to estimate the seismic demands of steel frame buildings. The pushover techniques included are the conventional pushover, the modal pushover analysis (MPA), the modal pushover analysis based on response spectra (MPPRS), the modal combination technique, the upper bound pushover analysis, and the weighted lateral pushover technique. Five steel buildings have been selected for this research, which are designed according to the Egyptian code of practice for steel construction and bridges and the Egyptian code for calculating the loads and forces in structural work and masonry. The number of stories for these buildings is 6, 9, 15, 20 and 30 stories, and the lateral resisting systems are moment resisting frames located around the perimeter of the building. The frame buildings are excited by seven natural earthquake records
