<br/><br/> Purpose: This study was carried out to investigate the level of gingival crevicular fluid Matrix Metalloproteinase-1 (MMP-1) before and after treatment in an attempt to determine the effect of phase I periodontal therapy on the levels of enzyme .Conclusion: Treatment of chronic periodontitis patients with SRP without any adjunctive therapy resulted in significant gain in CAL scores and significant reduction in PPD scores, PL and GI scores 4 weeks after treatment.
