Twelve completely edentulous patients free from any systemic disease were selected to participate in this study. All the selected patients were rehabilitated with mucosa supported maxillary complete denture and implant retained and supported mandibular overdenture. Two implants were positioned in the canine area following the two stage surgical protocol. The two groups were randomly divided into two equal groups according to their overdenture retentive system. Group I: Patients of this group were rehabilitated with implant retained mandibular overdenture by ball and socket attachment. Group II: Patients of this group were rehabilitated with Implant retained mandibular overdenture by long parallel telescopic attachments. Three, six, nine and twelve month evaluation of the implant supporting structures was made by measuring peri-implant bone height and density using direct digital periapical radiographs , which were evaluated using Digora system.
