Study Design: Diagnostic test evaluation forming two groups: (1) healthy full-term neonates (n=45), (2) full-term neonates with HIE (n=45). HIE diagnosis was made using the sarrnat clinical classification. Serum LPO was taken at 4 h after birth and determined by spectrophotometry. Result: Ninty full-term neonates were studied. Forty five full-term neonates with HIE had high serum LPO (P<0.001). Serum LPO level had 100% sensitivity, 98% specificity, 97.83 % positive predictive value, 100 % negative predictive value, and diagnostic accuracy of 98.89. Conclusion: Serum LPO level could be a useful test for early diagnosis of HIE in full-term neonates UR - http://172.23.153.220/th.pdf ER -
