<br/><br/> The main aim of this study is examining the nature of the future relation between two important organizations in the global scene which are the EU and the NATO. The cooperation between both organizations in defence strategies and building military capabilities increases in its importance because of the role played by the US. Leaders and peoples of the European Union dream to achieve an independent defence strategy in the Union in order to be able to play a vital role in the global scene.   The study tackles the challenges that face the European Union in achieving its defence policies and the determinants of the development of the CFSP.  Then the study displays the scope of cooperation between the EU and the NATO in using both soft power and military power. Therefore, the data collected in the research is to measure at the end the degree of cooperation and the degree of complementary role played by both organizations in crises
