This master thesis presents a macro - economic analysis of the deployment of renewable energy technologies in AbuDhabi, UAE; in accordance with the 7% renewable energy generation capacity target in 2020 and the significant contribution this deployment makes to the economic vision of AbuDhabi 2030. It assesses the technical potential of this deployment and analyses the economic impact in terms of triggered investment and socio - economic impact measured by full Time equivalent (FTE) workers required to reach the 7% renewable energy target. Further investigations include the environmental impact and the current policy framework. The technical assessment is based on a literature review of local conditions and compared to the technology specific performance characteristics. The economic analysis is done for each technology individually using the jobs and economic development Impact (JEDI) model, an excel based multiplier tool developed by the National renewable energy laboratory
